Anomalies
An anomaly is an agent action that OpenLatch determines violates an intent policy of one of the dimensions of the agent’s Autonomy Zone. It is the one thing OpenLatch flags.
Every anomaly names the policy it violated, that policy’s dimension, and the zone the policy came from. It is explainable by construction: a rule compiled from a policy your organization ratified produced it, and nothing else did.
What an anomaly does in each mode
Section titled “What an anomaly does in each mode”| Policy mode | What happens |
|---|---|
| Disabled | Nothing is evaluated, so no anomaly is raised |
| Monitor | The anomaly is recorded and flagged, and the action proceeds |
| Enforce | The action receives its verdict before it executes, and the anomaly records it |
Where you see them
Section titled “Where you see them”The Anomalies page of the console lists every anomaly in your organization. Each agent also has an Anomalies tab with only its own.

What anomalies are not
Section titled “What anomalies are not”Anomalies come only from intent policies. OpenLatch does not flag an action because it differs from what an agent usually does: if no ratified policy covers an action, it raises no anomaly. To flag something new, write the intent policy that says so.
